While it is possible to run LaserSell on your local machine for testing, we strongly recommend running LaserSell on a remote Linux VPS (Virtual Private Server) for live trading.

Why run on a VPS?

Trading on the Solana network requires speed, stability, and constant uptime. A VPS offers several critical advantages over running a bot on your home computer:
  • Ultra-Low Latency: Data centers have significantly faster internet connections than residential ISPs. By choosing a VPS location close to RPC nodes (e.g., New York or Amsterdam), you reduce the time it takes for your transactions to land on-chain.
  • 24/7 Uptime: A VPS runs forever. You don’t need to worry about your computer going to sleep, Windows updates forcing a restart, or a power outage at your house stopping your bot mid-trade.
  • Isolation & Security: Running LaserSell on a dedicated server keeps your trading keys isolated from your personal computer, reducing the risk of malware or accidental exposure.
  • Consistent Performance: Your bot won’t have to compete for resources with your web browser, games, or other background applications.

2. Select Your Server Specs

You do not need a supercomputer to run LaserSell because the binary is highly optimized. However, to ensure you don’t miss trades due to memory lag, we recommend the following configurations:
Minimum RequirementsRecommended Requirements
CPU1 vCPU2 vCPUs (Better for handling heavy WebSocket events)
RAM1 GB2 GB - 4 GB
Storage25 GB SSD50 GB NVMe SSD
OSUbuntu 22.04 or 24.04 (LTS)Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 (LTS)

3. Initial Server Setup

Once you have purchased your VPS, you will receive an IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.50) and a root password.
  1. Open your terminal (Command Prompt on Windows, Terminal on Mac).
  2. Connect to your server via SSH:
    ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP

  3. Update your server’s package list to ensure you have the latest security patches. Run the following command:
apt update && apt upgrade -y

  4. Install the necessary dependencies to download secure packages:
    apt install -y curl gnupg

You are now ready to install LaserSell!
